Deadline extended for illegal immigrants to voluntarily leave S. Korea

(Yonhap) -- South Korea will extend a temporary grace period during which foreigners staying in the country illegally can leave and return with a visa without getting punished, the Justice Ministry said Tuesday.
The grace period, which began on May 6, was to expire Tuesday, but the ministry has decided to extend it to the end of October to handle a growing number of illegal aliens who were leaving to be exempted from fines and a ban on future reentry.
A total of 8,958 illegal immigrants have left the country as of Aug. 25, showing a 12 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to the ministry. As the deadline neared, an average of 113 people left the country daily in August, it said.
Illegal aliens who leave the country within the period are allowed to reenter the country if they have proper visas, but those who miss the deadline are prohibited from coming back for one or two years.
Those who are caught for illegal stay are subject to fines and banned from reentry for up to five years under South Korea's immigration laws.
By nationality, 3,169 ethnic Koreans from China, 780 Mongolians and 682 Thais went back to their home countries, the ministry said. About 180,000 were estimated to be residing in South Korea illegally before the grace period began in May.
Similar measures were adopted in 2003 and 2005.

Maaari po kayong makabalik dito sa korea thru eps or other possible visa dahil magvovoluntary exit po kayo. Hanggang Oct 31 2010 ang ibinigay na extension para makauwi ng pinas. Dapat pong malaman na bago kayo umuwi ay isettle nyo ang mga bayaring nasa pangalan nyo tulad ng cellphone bills, internet etc dahil possible po na di na kayo makabalik or maharang sa airport dahil sa mga nabanggit. Pangalawa, yung may mga records ng violation dito sa korea (criminal records) ay di na makakabalik (kung sakaling makauwi sila sa pinas).
wala pong penalty kung uuwi kayo bago mag oct 31 at hindi din po kayo madedetain.

One week before now, I filed a petition through e-people website regarding of employment violation in a company. At dahil diyan naisali ko na rin, about the issue of departure program as there are visas being denied from our country as they availed the amnesty Program while the Korean Government themselves announced no reentry restriction.

Nakakalungkot naman isipin ang issueng ito... Sinabi nyo pa matagal ng nangyayare yan bago paman dumating ang EPS system here sa korea.. talagang kung ano ano istilo ginagawa ng immigration para ma census kung gaano kadami ang illegal here sa korea at kung paano mababawasan ito sa style na voluntary exit....All hands on deck nlang! Honestly The word Patago tago means Living in FEAR but the truth is WE TNT here sa korea living a Normal life po...Work..bahay...Community...Barkada..galaan..hehhe Takot?Fear?yan ang wala sa isip ng isang tnt kase pinili namin maging tnt eh..always postive thinking wag mo haluan ng negative para makapag trabaho ka ng maayos at tumagal sa korea..Kaya advice ko kung may taong gusto mag tnt "Brad..sis kung mahina loob mo umuwi kanalang kase dika makakapag work ng maayos nyan" sample mga TNT sa cheongyangi nakikipag play pa ng bascketball sa mga immigration every summer..paano? i honestly dont know pero i witness it myself hahhaha..police huhulihin ang tnt?I dont know too...kapitbahay ko here dyan naka station for more than 6 yrs sa kanto..sila land lord ng bahay namin....I really dont know maraming miracle and weird things happening here sa korea kaya maraming TNT maybe this is the land of oppurtunity..kahit panget ka...walang hight..walang p[inag aralan..walang backer..kahit over aged pa..maykarapatang magkaroon ng trabaho basta masipag kalang..not like sa pnas...kapag wala ka ng mga quality nito dika magkakaroon ng trabaho..Dont say im wrong guys..maraming UST,UP grad here sa korea nagtatrabaho sa factory..meron nga civil eng..eh life talaga noh..ibang klase sa hirap ng buhay sana mai apply ng goverment natin ang ganitong system sa pnas Para lahat magkaroon ng chance mag work..and bumaba ang crime rate etc..

Gud am po...gusto ko lang po sana malaman kung kapag nahuli ka sa korea,eh pede pa makabalik after 5 as EPS na..Oct 8 2009 kse ako nahuli,.possible pa kaya na mlakabalik ako ng korea?sana po mtulungan nio ko..tnx and Godbless us all...

ask ko lng po dun po b s eps n ng tnt possible po bng mkuha ung kukmin/nps nya pg voluntary syang umuwi s pinas, dti po akong eps at ng tnt ng 1 yr at balak ko ng umuwi. sana po ay mbigyan nyo ako ng inyong suggestion o kasagutan ...
