Radio Program Will Cater to Immigrants

A radio program for immigrants will be aired Friday to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the Republic of Korea's foundation.

Titled ``Digital Radio Kiss,'' the program will be offered in four languages ― Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipino and Taiwanese ― available through Sky Life and C&M cable TV.

The program is co-produced by WJ Foundation and Digital Skynet and began testing Aug. 1.

``The nation is moving toward becoming a multi-cultural society,'' said WJ Foundation Secretary General Park Byung-bai. ``The program aims to help immigrants maintain their cultural originality and become part of our society.''

Native speakers of the four languages will alternatively host the 90-minute show daily. To be broadcast three times a day, the program will introduce music from the immigrants' countries, tell stories of immigrants here and offer tips for living in South Korea.

The foundation will offer the program in more languages next year, including Russian, Uzbek, Mongolian, Japanese and Arabic.

Cooperation will also be sought with broadcasters from other countries to improve the program.
