[IBAAN] A Journey Riding in the Horse of our Faith

Subject : Invitation to Pistahan ng taga-Ibaan


Dear Brothers and Sisters :

May the peace and love of the Lord Jesus Christ through the intercession of St. James the Greater be with us!

The Spanish came to the Philippines on mission of spreading Christianity. When these Spanish missionaries came to Ibaan, they had with them the statue of St. James. It was venerated there until Ibaan was declared parish together with St. James as its patron saint.

Saint James for the townspeople of Ibaan will always be the defender of their faith and freedom as a sign of their gratefulness and thanksgiving to St. James’ miraculous intercessions and apparitions, significantly, during the war. St. James presence was felt by every Taga-Ibaan, relaying messages of precautions and performing miracles to defend the townspeople from the enemies.

In lieu of this, we, as part of the Ibaan community here in South Korea come up to an idea that we too celebrate the feast of our beloved patron saint. Physically we may not be present with our families in celebrating this great event but we know in spirits we are one of them because distance can never be a barrier in celebrating and professing our faith.

In this regard, we are inviting you to be part as we celebrate our faith. We have organized program to highlight this thanksgiving celebration with the 2008 theme, "Ang sibol ng butil at puno ng aming pananampalataya", on Sunday , 27th of July at Hyewhadong Rotary, Seoul, . It would be an honor for us if you could take part and witness this (10 years old celebration and probably the only Philippine Fiesta celebrated among the Filipino Community in South Korea) event that strengthen our faith as we struggle to get through in this foreign land, far from our families.
