Seoul Should Ensure Migrant Workers' Human Rights

Another ``hunting'' season has set in ― a desperate cat-and-mouse game between unregistered migrant workers and immigration officers.

The government has already set its target of deportation at 9,000 for the year and 3,000 for this month alone. Numerous cases of human rights abuses are feared to happen in the course of the pursuit and escape, which have led to serious injuries or even deaths in the past. The officers do not mind who, when or where, raiding workplaces, schools or even churches any time of the day without prior notice to nab all foreign nationals there, legal or illegal.
