What is an E-7 visa?

E-7 = Special Activity Visa

This E-7 visa is similar to E-4 except this is reserved for all other special activities that are specially designated by the Ministry of Justice. Therefore, if you are going to be working for a domestic, Korean company and you possess certain skills or knowledge that are unavailable in the Korean domestic market, such as foreign attorneys and tax accountants, then this E-7 visa is probably for you. It should be noted that E-7 visa is generally granted for only those positions that are difficult to fill with domestic Korean employees due to the shortage of Korean workers.

Specially designated activities (E-7)
Application Eligibility
� Foreigner visited to work in the activity specially designated by the Minister of Justice, through contract with public/private organization of ROK

� Foreigner visited for the activity of advanced technology area such as IT
Document requirements are as follows

※ Other documents each category of visa may require additionally.

� Passport and foreign registration card
� Application form
� An employment contract
� A certificate of tax payment
� A copy of business registration
� A recommendation letter by local government head of special zone (in case of the
person working for local specialization project)
� A copy of reference
� Fees (tax stamp 30,000 won)

Additional requirements
* resume/bio data in korean and english
* reference letter from the employer
* photocopy of diploma and transcript of records
* 1X1 picture

Standard of the review of permission for extension of stay
� Reasonableness of continuous specially designated activities
� Foreigners that belongs to either of below-listed cases shall be limited for extension of stay:
- A foreigner that does not belong to qualification standard and advanced technology range in terms of experience, academic background, related department, and major
- A foreigner working in the management of a company with employment in the area that belongs to national alternative job area of domestic private enterprises.

� 주한외국공관원 가족 중 외교통상부장관(주한공관담당관)의 추천을 받아 문화연구언론기관 등의 교열�통역�번역 등 외국어관련 직종 및 외국인 학교 교사(E-7)를 하려는 경우
� 방문동거(F-1) 또는 동반(F-3) 자격 소지자가 외국인 학교 교사(E-7)를 하려는 경우
� 다른 체류자격 소지 외국인 중 자격요건을 갖추고 아래에 해당하는 외국인
- 대한민국내의 공�사 기관 등과의 계약에 의해 법무부장관이 특별히 지정하는 활동을 하려는 외국인
- 정보기술 등 첨단기술 분야의 활동을 하려는 외국인
체류자격외활동허가 신청시 제출서류
※ 심사 과정에서 필요하다고 인정하는 때에는 제출서류를 가감할 수 있습니다.

� 학위증 또는 자격증 사본
� 해당 주무부처장관 고용추천서
� 수수료(수입인지 6만원)
다른 체류자격 + 특정활동(E-7) 체류자격외활동
대상
� 특정활동(E-7) 자격을 소지한 외국첨단기술 인력이 유사 첨단기술분야인 교수(E-1), 연구(E-3), 기술지도(E-4)자격의 활동을 병행 하려는 외국인 중 아래 해당자
- 벤처기업 등 제조업체의 IT분야에 근무하고자 하는 외국인
- 전자상거래 및 정보기술 관련지식을 겸비하고 e-business등 IT응용산업 분야에 근무하고자 하는 외국인
체류자격외활동허가 신청시 제출서류
※ 심사 과정에서 필요하다고 인정하는 때에는 제출서류를 가감할 수 있습니다.

� 여권 및 외국인등록증
� 신청서
� 고용계약서
� 원 근무처 동의서
� 경력증명서(학사학위 소지자는 학위증 사본 첨부)
� 해당 주무부처장관 고용추천서
- 전자상거래, 기업정보화(e-business) 분야 : 산업자원부 장관 고용추천서 필요
- 정보통신부 장관의 고용추천서 필요
� 수수료(수입인지 6만원)
체류자격외활동허가 대상
� 자격기준
- 정보기업(IT) 또는 전자상거래 등 관련분야에 5년이상 종사한 경력이 있는 외국인
- 정보기업(IT) 또는 전자상거래 등 관련학과의 학사 이상 학력소지자로서 해당분야에 2년이상 종사한 경력이 있는 외국인
