Salute for Patriotics here and abroad

Being patriotic person doesn’t mean of staying in the country and spending almost your entire life here. A person can be patriot either here or abroad as long as you put being a Filipino in your heart. I beg to disagree with Prof. Solita Monsod that a requirement for a Filipino to show patriotism is to stay in the Philippines. I myself, prefer to stay, work and serve the Philippines eventhough I have chance of working abroad, but I sacrifice it because I could see myself chance of serving Filipinos here in our country, but I do not see anything wrong for Filipinos who decided to go abroad and work there. I really admire these Filipinos who are abroad who still put Philippines in their heart. I should say they are more patriotic than Filipinos here in the Philippines, because of their sacrifices of staying away from their family, friends and country. These Filipinos abroad contribute in our country--- big dollars reserve of Philippines, charity works and these Filipinos overseas are trying to bring the good system in other countries to fit in Philippine degenerated system. Most of Filipinos abroad have sacrificed a lot – for those Filipinos who think they are lying in bed of roses—no they are not. They are working 20 hours a day, some are professionals here but working as carpenter in New Zealand, some are Doctors here but working as Caregiver or Nurses in USA, some are working as pilots here but a cab driver in Australia, they forget their position in the Philippines just to find better life abroad. But if you will ask them “They still love Philippines.” Many people in the Philippines are staying not because they are patriotic – BUT THERE ARE STILL SOME WHO HAVE GOOD INTENTIONS! On other hand, there are also Filipinos who decided to stay in the Philippines to serve the country. These are future leaders of our country who will mold and shape the future of our society. But there are also Filipinos who decided to stay here in the Philippines just to complain , blame and find imperfections of past leaders of our country. These are not patriotic but a poison of our society.

People define patriotism in different perspective, but for me being partiotic is putting in heart, mind and action that you are a FILIPINO... You will show decent actions here and abroad to change the misconceptions of foriegners about Filipinos, You will contribute the system you have learned abroad that make them progressive in the Philippines by initiating change in the system of our government, giving the pressue importance of taxation....

THAT IS WHY I see PATRIOTISM and LOVE FOR THE COUNTRY can be shown whether you are here of far away...
