ePassport Application The Philippine Embassy began issuance of the electronic passport, or ePassport, 01 August 2010. The ePassport is a highly secure and enhanced Machine Readable Passport. The ePassport uses the digital image of the photograph taken and. With face-recognition technology, one is able to verify the identity of the passport holder. It also captures the fingerprints and digital signature of the passport holder.
Since processing will take longer, the Embassy implements an appointment system for applications and encourages the use of courier for the release of the documents. Only those who can provide a complete return address can avail of the courier service. You will be asked to complete the courier form upon application for an ePassport. Payment will be collected upon delivery.
Personal appearance is required.
Schedule an Appointment for Your ePassport Application
You can get an appointment by calling the APPOINTMENT HOTLINE NUMBER at 010-9385-0535. You may call between 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM, from Monday to Friday. Listen for the recorded message and text in your full name (including the middle name), date and place of birth, old passport number and mobile number in South Korea. You will receive a text message giving the exact date of your appointment and reference number.
You can also send an e-mail to epassport@philembassy-seoul.com. Give your full name (including middle name), date and place of birth, old passport number and mobile number in South Korea. A reply will be sent also via e-mail.
Appointments are scheduled between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon from Monday to Friday and every first and third Sunday of the month. The Philippine Embassy is closed during declared Philippine and Korean holidays. Please come at the exact date and time of appointment. "No-show" applicants, or applicants who do not honor their appointments, automatically lose their slot and will have to set another appointment.
Requirements for ePassport:
* Old Philippine Passport and a photocopy of the data or photo page and last page showing the signature of the passport holder
* ePassport application form
* Appointment Reference Number
* ePassport fee - US$ 60.00
Procedure on Date of Appointment:
Step 1
* Check your name on the list of applicants with appointment for the day.
* Complete all information on the passport application form.
* Wait for your name and number to be called at Window 4.
* Submit the application form and present your old Passport and photocopies.
* OPTIONAL: If you wish to use the courier service, get a courier form and write your name and complete return address. Keep your copy of the courier form. Payment will be made upon delivery of your ePassport. Have your old passport canceled by the consular officer.
Step 2
* Go to the cashier and pay the exact amount of US$ 60.00 in cash. Checks will not be accepted.
* Keep your receipt for presentation in case you decide to personally claim your ePassport after six weeks.
Step 3
* Go to the encoder for encoding of data, picture taking, taking of thumb marks and digital signature. Applicant should be in decent attire with collar. Both ears should be showns
* Keep your receipt of payment and bring your old passport for cancellation to claim your ePassport. You can also authorize a representative to claim your passport via a letter of authority at the back of your claim receipt.
NOTE: It takes about six (6) weeks to process the ePassport as the approved applications are sent to a central processing facility in the Philippines.
