kabayan, i-share ko lang po ito regarding sa accident insurance, lalo na po sa mga kababayan nating naaaksidente sa kanilang trabaho, may mga nagtatanong din sakin so ito po galing sa molab.go.kr website(FAQ column). sna po makatulong..maraming salamat po! God bless u all!

Dear Foreign workers & HR managers,
This is the National Labor Consultation Center.

We would like to provide information regarding Casualty insurance and Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance(IACI) as follows:

Q: 1) Is the casualty insurance the same to Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance?
2) Is this compulsory for all foreign workers?
3) How much do we need to pay?
4) How to pay the casualty insurance?
5) How to claim if we get injured during work?
6) How much do we receive?

A:
Regarding Q1)
- Casualty insurance is an insurance that a foreign worker should take out in order to insure him/her against injuries or diseases other than those by occupational accidents. However Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance(IACI) is a social insurance that an employer shall take out for an occupationally ill or injured employees to provide compensation. Therefore, two insurance are different.

Regarding Q2)
- Under the current EPS, all foreign worker shall take out a casualty insurance within 15 days of the effective date of his/her labor contract.
According to the IACI Act, an employer hiring one or more employees shall take out IACI.

Regarding Q3) & q4)
- Insurance premium of Casualty insurance amounts to 20,000 won ~ 50,000 won. For more information per 3 years, please contact the Samsung Fire & Maritime Insurance Corp at 02-2119-2400

Regarding Q5) & Q6)
- Under the IACI, when a worker contracts a disease or sustains an injury that is related to his/her work and requires 4 days or longer of medical care, he/she should apply for approval of compensable medical treatment to the branch office of Korea Labor Welfare Corporation. The application form for initial medical care should be submitted to the Comwel branch office having hurisdiction over his/her employer. The blank application form is available at a Comwel branch office or a Comwel-accredited medical institution or can be downloaded at the Comwel website(www.kcomwel.or.kr 02-2670-0319 , english available)

- However, in case of an employee sustains an injury related to his work that requies less than 4 days, his/her employer has responsibility for accidents compensation for medical treatment and suspension work allowance(70% of ordinary wages) according to the Labor Standards Act.

gud aftrnoon po sir/mam,ano po mga mkukuha kpg nag file po ako sa COMWEL?lagpas 4 days npo ako di nkkpgwork.naaksidente po ako sa loob ng company.araw araw po ako sa osptal pumupunta pra sa check up ng sugat at dressing ng tahi sa daliri.sagot naman po ng amo namin gastos sa ospital.ano pa po dapat ko lakarin?sana po malaman ko agad ng maaga para mailakad ko agad.tnx po ng marami.mabuhay po kayo.........GOD BLESS US ALWAYS.............

kabayan,

if wala pong naputol or nawalang parte ng katawan nyo due to accident, only 100% hospital expenses and 70% of basic salary ang marereceive nyo while you're on medical treatment leave... 70% salary means, if your basic salary a day is 32,880won (basic minimum wage), so ang marereceive nyo lang na sahod a day is 23,016won habang hindi pa kayo nagwowork...

kung ang amo nyo na ang gumastos lahat ng hospital expenses, baka siya na ang nagprocess ng Industrial Accident Insurance nyo...

magandang araw po mga kabayan, 3years na ako dito sa korea at renewed and contract, naaksidente po ako last May 29, nasagasaan ako ng forklift at nadurog ang buto ko sa paa and nabali yung buto ko sa binti, almost 3 months po ako sa hospital, then natransfer ako sa dorm ng company, nagpupunta nalang ako ng hospital for check ups, wala po akong binabayaran sa hospital at may 70% naman na sahod,

ang katanungan ko is may makukuha ba akong disability claim?

ako po'y nalulungkot sa nangyari sa inyo... sana makakalakad ka pa uli...

about sa tanong mo, if permanently disabled na po yung paa mo (left or both), you can receive disability benefits in addition to medical expenses and 70% salary while you're on hospital treatment...

how to apply? in case hindi alam ng amo nyo, you can directly ask help from the hospital where you're confined... most hospitals in Korea are accredited with COMWEL handling Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance (IACI)...

you may also call COMWEL office at 02-2670-0319 (english) if you have any question or if you need help and guidance...

Maraming salamat po, medyo nakalakad na po ako, may konting kirot pa rin akong nararamdaman, multiple bone fractures po kasi kaya may mga pin yun maliliit na buto sa paa to stay ni place, and may bracket na bakal sa buto sa binti, though one year pa bago tanggalin, salamat na rin sa diyos at hindi naputol ang paa ko, but yung mga daliri ko on may left foot is disabled and limited na yung movement ng paa ko, hindi ko na sya maigapang pag nagsusuot ako ng sapatos, Ibabalita ko nalang po dito kung anong mga updates ang nangyayari para na rin sa kaalaman ng iba,

wala pong anuman kabayan... ako po'y masaya at nakatulong ako sa inyo kahit sa simpleng paraan... by the way, according to COMWEL representative na nakausap ko, beside sa disability benefits na matatanggap mo, meron pa rin kayong matanggap na cash benefits in addition sa free hospital expenses nyo...

you can also email Mr. Kim of COMWEL (marunong mag-english yan) at kimjy72@naver.com... in case mahihirapan parin kayo magfile ng accident insurance benefits due to language gap at ayaw din magparticipate ang employer nyo, pwede lapit ka nalang ng any migrant center...

Swerte na rin at may forum na ganito para sa mga pilipino, at may taong katulad mo,

here's an update, sabi ng HRD namin makukuha ko lang daw yung disability claim pag natapos ang gamutan, oh well, next year pa yun, kasi may pins and bracket pa sa mga buto ko na next year tatanggalin, tama ba yun?

sa ngayon nandito pa rin sa dorm, at minsan therapy sa clinic and check sa hospital,

I will try to contact sir kim in the future, salamat ulit ng marami kabayan!

kabayan naaksidente po ang aking kanang kamay sa pagbibisikleta at naconfined aq ng 4 araw sa ospital kc tinahi ang hiwa q sa kamay at ngaun sa bahay nlng aq ngpa2galing ng sugat at hindi pa mkapagtrbaho at sabi ng kumpanya isang buwan daw muna q magpahinga. ngaun tanong q po? wala po bang sahod ang hindi q pagpasok sa trbaho non. pls answer me.. asap! thank you!!!

hello po naaksidente din po ako sa work ko last june 2008 po bali nadurog po ung isang daliri ko dahil po sa air lock, 2 weeks po akong asa hospital sa incheon tpos po 1 week lang ako sa dorm namin nun tpos pinagtrabaho nko kaya lang po magaan lang tga lagay lang ng bolt ung company po ang nagshoulder lahat ng expenses sa hospital tapos po may 2009 nauwi na po ako dto sa pinas hanggang ngayon po. tanong ko po kung may makukuha din po ba ako?
