The federation of Korean employers of small and medium-scale enterprises recently announced plans for the forthcoming renegotiation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the Employment Permit System. Discussing provisions for workers’ benefits, some employers suggested the abolition of current of free accommodation and meals for workers, saying that workers should shoulder expenses for these basic needs.
