NPS-SSS PETITION UPDATE

Fellow OFWs in S. Korea,

The Filipino EPS Workers Association (FEWA) president Mr. Sofonias Paragsa together with Mr. Leonido Vallena of LEDAGs Production and a reporter of DZME radio station have submitted the said petition letter with the 5, 415 signatures last October 29, 2008 to the Phil. Senators Meriam Defensor Santiago, Manny Villar, Jinggoy Estrada and Francis Escudero.

We have also provided a copy to Fr. Edwin Corros of the Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines ( CBCP).

Last November 2, 2008, we gave also Amb. Luis Cruz and Fr. Alvin Parantar, MSP a copy of the said petition letter.

And we have requested Mr. Sofonias to give also a copy to the member of the POEA Board.

Our petition letter was emailed to different organizations , Filipino communities and also to Philippine Overseas Labor Office ( POLO ) Labor Attache' Atty. Delmer Cruz.

Maraming salmat po mga kababayan,

Hindi pa tapos ang laban , meron n nman tayong dapat ipaglaban ito ay ang plano ng Employers' Federation dito sa Korea na tanggalin na ang libreng pabahay at food allowance.

Kung ikaw ang mag renta sa bahay at bibili ng pagkain magkano nlng matira sa sahod mo?
Paki compute kabayan.
Magkano ma save mo? Meron ba or negative?

Meron ka bang suggestions kung anung dapat nating gawin?

Sir Reeve,

Isa siguro sa mabuting hakbang ng lahat ng manggagawa lalo na ng mga Pilipino upang hindi maalis ang libreng pabahay at pagkain ng mga Sajang ay "HUWAG PUMIRMA NG KONTRATA" kung hindi nakasaad ang libreng pabahay at pagkain. Isang silent protest ang pwedeng gawin. Hikayatin ang lahat ng mga manggagawa na makiisa dito lalo na ang mga magre-renew ng kontrata at mga bagong released.

Ibig ko lamang sabihin na kung walang pipirma ng kontrata dahil walang pabahay at pagkain. Mapipilitan ang karamihan ng mga Sajang na magprovide ng ganitong incentives upang makakuha ng tao at dumami ang manggagawa. Sa aking palagay malaki ang maitutulong ng "SILENT PROTEST" na ito lalo na kung makikiisa ang karamihan.

Sana nakuha ninyo ang ibig kong sabihin. Hirap kasing mag-explain sa ganito. Hehehehe.

As far as I'm concerned, I think it is a dangerous move. Though Filipino workers are favored by most employers let us not forget the fact that based on stastics the number of Filipinos hired declined over the past year because Koreans are now favoring other countries who simply bow heir heads and follow what they want.

I guess there are other ways to go against this system which they are planning to implement. As far as I remember, our ambasador also promised that they in the embassy are planning sevral means and measures to counteract this like encouraging other embassies to protest on this matter. I think we should push the embassy to do this. It will be a stronger move if all the representatives of employee sending countries will be the one to protest on this matter. In this way, it will be a national issue and the effect would be national as well.Let's take things diplomatically, think of our moves and do the proper planning. We shouldn't be deciding while our hearts burst out for anger and disappointments.

This is my opinion.
