Good Day po!
Ask ko lng po kung totoo po b n simula nitong jan 2010 ay isho-shoulder n ng employee yung tax(kapgeunse)ayon s samonim nmin ganun n dw ngayon,kung pano mgbigay ng tax ang koreano ganun n din dw foreign worker. Since payday kahapon kinaltasan po kami ng 100,000((kapgeunse) ksma jan yung ilng kulng nmin cmula nung january, next month n yung iba), 10,000(juminse, 10% ng kapgeunse), 58,860(kukmin, tama po computation nito), 101 720(Uiryobum, kami n dw magbabayad ng yearly medical at tumaas n dw contribution) TOTAL = 270, 580

Tama po ba n ganito ikaltas smin?

hi geena,

mali po yata ang ginawa ng amo nyo... these are the deductions applicable to all EPS workers...

1) Income Tax (소득세 or 갑근세):
- in order to compute our monthly withholding tax easily, just use the AUTO CALCULATOR found at Korea National Tax Service website... pease click HERE... in that website, just input ur monthly salary in the empty box and click CALCULATOR...
- ex. if ur April salary including OT is 1,500,000won, using the AUTO CALCULATOR, ur iwithholding tax for April is 11,710won only...

2) Inhabitant Tax (주민세):
- in order to compute, just multiply ur monthly withholding tax (소득세 or 갑근세) by 10%... the result would be ur Inhabitant Tax (주민세)...
- ex. if ur April withholding tax is 11,710won, then 11,710 x 10% equals 1,171won... so ur 주민세 for the month of April is 1,171won only...

3) NPS (국민연금):
- ur monthly contribution must be 4.5% of ur monthly salary... plus another 4.5% to be paid by ur employer...
- ex. if ur April salary is 1,500,000won, then ur deduction for NPS is 67,500won only... then ur employer must also contribute to the NPS with the same amount... so, ur total NPS contribution for the month of April is 135,000won...

4) National Health Insurance (건강보험 or 의료보험):
- ur monthly contribution must be 2.665% of ur monthly salary only... plus another 2.665% from ur employer...
- ex. if ur April salary is 1,500,000won, then ur deduction for 건강보험 is 39,975won only... plus ur employer must also pay with the same amount to the National Health Insurance office...

yan po ang computation sa lahat na deductions na sinabi mo... huwag po kau basta nalang magpaloko sa employer nyo... we have to fight for our right according to the labor law... pwede po kayo magfile ng reklamo sa labor office if ayaw ibalik ang pera nyo... at the same time, pwede kayo magpaparelease nalang if proven na niloloko lang kayo sa amo nyo at ayaw sumunod sa labor laws...

In view of this meron po sna akong ktanungan sa situation ko, bgo lng po ako d2 sa company ko at ktatapos lng po ako iregister ng boss ko. 1st tym po nila kumuha ng EPS na ktulad ko kya sa pag kakaalam ko po di nila alam mga policies regarding sa pag hire ng EPS, is it possible po na na briefing na boss ko about sa mga pohom na kailangan nyang kunin at bayaran pra sa akin lalo na po yung NPS, Health Insurance, Tejicom at kung ano pa po yung iba. Requirements po ba ng labor na linawin sa mga sajang ang mga bagay na yan bago sila makakuha ng EPS workers? Need some info about this bago ko po sana idemand sa knila just incase na sa sahudan eh wla akong kaltas, kc sobrang bait sa akin ng amo ko and its a bit rude po pra sa akin na ipaalala ko sa kanila tpos alam na po pla nila dahil na brief na sa labor. Its my mistake not to ask about these pohoms right b4 na papirmahin ako ng contract. Pls sir do enlighten me. Tnx in advance!

sa pagkakaalam ko, part of the labor office requirements before any employer can hire a foreign worker under EPS is to inform them of the rights and benefits of the foreign workers... but depende po kasi din yan sa situation... kasi alam naman natin na ang Korea is "pali-pali"... so baka di rin consistent ang labor sa pagprovide ng labor law information and updates...

ganito nalang gawin mo, hintayin mo muna ang first salary mo, if walang makikitang deduction sa payslip mo, then that's the time you should inform your employer of his binded obligations to provide such benefits...

sir dave tanong ko lang po kc nasa 1.3m hangang 1.5m ang sinasahod namin pero bakit naka fixed ang kinakaltas sa amin na 50,760 won lang tama po ba yun? kung mali pwede ba namin habulin sa nps yung kulang? kung pwede pano ba gagawin namin? tnx god bless

hi liza,

according to NPS internal policy, worker's and employer's contribution for the first year in Korea should be based on worker's basic salary or sometimes will be based on the first month salary including overtime...

then after one year, NPS will adjust the monthly contribution by getting the average salary from the previous year... so, in that case, macoconcider pa rin yung overtimes sa previous year...

you can verify your current monthly contribution by recomputing it using your first month salary of your first year dito sa Korea or first month salary after your reemployment (para sa mga na-belong under old policy)...

question lang poh sir dave paano nmn poh un health insurance ko parang lumaki kasi ngaun eh ....
dati 28760 won lang pero ngaun nakalipas na dalwang buwan eh 58420won
ang 9 poh kami lahat dito sa company namen
3 sa factor at 6 sa opisina?

ibig ba sabihin eh na shoulder ko na laht ng health insurance ko dto sa company ko pwede bang itanong ko sa amo ko bakit malaki na un health insurance ko??

sir dave yun po bang inenumerate nyo dto sa taas na 1 to 4 yun po ba yung dapat deduction sa eps below 5 person lng kmi dto legal ksma koreano pero nxtmonth 5 na kami di alam ng amo ko kung ano lahat ang mga deduction dapat pra skin pero kung yan po lahat yun deduction yung nsa taas yan n lng ppakita ko sa amo ko tama po ba ako. tnx

sorry may kunting mali pala sa sagot ko sa itaas... actually those 4 items that i enumarated above are applicable to all companies kahit less than 5 regular workers lang ang meron...

according to Labor Standard Act, ang hindi lang applicable na mga benefits for those workers working in a company with less than 5 workers are toejigeum, overtime pay, night differential, annual and monthly paid leave, paid legal holiday and sunday holiday, and recess hours...

pero kung nakasaad sa contract na pinirmahan nyo ang mga benefits na yan, the employer should provide the said benefits according to what are stated in the contract...

magkano ba ang salary mo sa nakaraang buwan? try to compute based on formula... monthly salary x 2.665%

yan lang ang dapat deduction para sa 건강보험 mo... then another 50% shall be paid by your employer to make a total of 5.33% monthly contribution...

try to call NHIC Office at 02-390-2000 (english) to confirm your membership and contribution status... if confirm na mali po ang deduction, magreklamo kayo sa employer mo...

hi macel,

yung 연말정산, ang nakalagay lang sa english translation is "Year-end Settlement"... paki clarify mo sa amo mo kung para saan yan whether settement for National Health Insurance (건강보험) or for Year-end Tax?

kasi if for National Health Insurance yan, maverify mo yan sa NHI office if tama po ba ang deduction na yan by contacting them at 02-390-2000...

but if for Year-end tax yan, sobrang laki naman yan... im sure may mali po sa computation if year-end tax talaga yan... baka hindi naisali ang 30% tax exemption for all foreign workers...

so, clarify mo muna then you can update here para matulungan kita to confirm if tama po yan o hindi...

yan lang muna siguro... thanks...

sir dave ask din ako regarding sa deduction sa salary namin.sa list po above na nabanggit mo apat lang ang supposedly deducted sa salary pero sa aking case ay pito po ang dinededuct ng amo namin, tama po ang computation ng amo namin sa mga apat naenumurate mo.ito po yung tatlo pa na kinakaltas nya sa amin koyongbohom,janggiyoyangbohom,at julgokbohom .ok lang yung dalawang koyong at janggi na dinededuct nya kc d lumalampas ng manon pero itong julgokbohom ay naka fixed monthly na 75,000won either maliit ang sahod o malaki.nagsearch ako sa meaning nito sabi insurance daw.more than 3yrs na po kaming kinakaltasan nito at sobrang laki naman kung anong klaseng insurance ito.

1) goyong boheom "고용보험" or Employment Insurance - okay lang po yan.. that insurance ay magagamit mo yan if humina ang company at magtemporary shutdonw, meron pa rin kayong sahod na matatanggap thru employment insurance... also, if ikaw ay mabuntis, you can file a 90-days maternity leave with thru employment insurance..

2) janggi yoyang boheom "장기요양보험료" or Longterm Care Insurance - okay lang din po ito kasi para po ito in case ma confine ka sa hospital for a longer period of time...

3) pero yung "julgokboheom" na sinasabi mo... hindi po ako familiar... could you help spell it out in Korean letters para mahanap ko sa internet... di kasi pwede mahanap if wrong spelling din... then once i get the english translation, i will ask the labor office about it afterwards...

Gud day po Sir Dave

Ask lng din po ako about sa kaltas sa amin about NPS.Mg-3 yrs na po ako sa company ko this coming Aug. 20,2010 for my first 3 year sojourn but then mula noon hanggang ngayon pareho pa rin halos ang kaltas sa kukmin ko amounting to 35,770 won only (bumaba pa nga from 36,540 won dati at 800,000 won pa lng ang basic ko) smantalang 900,000 won na ang monthly basic salary ko ngayon for a 40 hrs/week working scheme + OT pa ng whole saturday 4x a month.One thing more kinaltasan kmi ng Kukmin 9 mos. after kmi ng-umpisa sa company kya nung mag-inquire ako last Feb sa NPS ay nsa 1.4M pa lng ang NPS fund ko.More or less 40 workers kami all in all ksma na vietnam & chinese,5 kami dating Filipino dito after 2 yrs ako na lng ang natira. My question is this...pwedi ba habulin yung mga kakulangan & pwedi ko ba xa gawing ground pra magpa-release after na ma-process nila ang reemployment papers ko?Ask ko na rin about paid leave, if ever na marelease ako after my reemployment ay pwedi ko ba i-claim ang unpaid leave khit ngbakasyon ako sa pinas 2 times at nagamit ko yung 45 days pero No work-No Pay xa?Onething more na gusto ko i-ground ay about sa bonus, mga Koreans 50 to 100% ng salary ang bonus smantalang kami mga foreign workers 0-manun (50,000) lang? about NPS monthly contribution, at first, the amount is based on your basic salary... so if you're working under 40hrs workweek scheme, your basic salary must be 4,110won x 209hrs = 858,990won... in this case, your NPS monthly deduction is supposedly 4.5% x 858,990won = 38,654won which is a little bit lower than your current deduction... plus to your employer's same amount contribution...

after one year, NPS office will adjust your monthly deduction according to your monthly average salary considering your OT... NPS office is the one to decide that... so you better visit the NPS office who has the jurisdiction of your company...

i am not sure if mahabol mo pa yung 9-months na walang contribution from your employer... it's up to the NPS office... so, you need to file your formal complain there...

about naman sa annual paid leave mo, you can file a complain at the labor office but i am not sure if your company will pay you... meron kasing mga employer na hindi takot sa batas... sasabihin lang na magfile nalang kayo sa korte...

both NPS and annual paid leave issues stated above are valid grounds para gawing reason na magpaparelease kayo...

about naman sa bonus nyo, actually wala po sa batas na nag-obliged sa employer to give a bonus unless nakalagay po sa kontrata ninyo... but if the company give some bonus to its employers, it should be fair regardless of workers' nationality... yung case nyo na mas malaki ang sa Koreans kesa sa ibang lahi, therefore it can be cosidered as an act of discrimnation... and discrimnation is prohibited by the korean labor law... so, pwede mo rin yan idahilan nag magpaparelease ka nalang...

hlo sir dave gandang gabi po in our company sahod nmin is 1.3-1.6 pero bkit ang bawas per mnt is ranging from 35-300 what i mean is may month na 1.6 sahod 35 lng bawas then may 1.3 na 300 an bawas wala po ksi sa payslip nmin ang amount or saan binawas yng amount na yun sana you can help me fixed this problem i learned many things here mabuhay po kau maraming ty God bless you..

did you try to ask your employer about your deduction? you have the right to confirm sa mga deductions nyo... consistent ba ang deduction na yan? i mean every other month may 300K won and meron 35K won?

one more thing, dapat naka detailed po yan sa payslip nyo ang mga deductions nyo... approach your employer and ask the details of your deduction and if you have the details already, i can help you verify if tama po o hindi...

ty po sir dave kaso if ever we tried to appraoche our employer the answer is araso itatanong ko sa nodongbo then period na po till the next salary day again..tapos ang communication is ganito po yun we shld tell first our chajangnim but still no answer parang yng amo nmin ginagawang pader yng opisyales nmin pra alang direct comm. to him..we've tried to ask yung computation ng deduction nmin ayaw nman pong ibigay tapos then if u insist ang sama ng loob nila sa yo..we are not asking more from them what we want is they must give us kng ano po yng nkasaad doon sa nodongpop sir Dave kindly give me some more advices God bless po

bakit sinasabi nila na itatanong sa Nodongbo na sila naman ang nagdeduct nyan? ang kailangan nyo nalang sana is itatanong kung ano ang name ng mga deductions na yan? wala ba talagang nakalagay sa payslip nyo? as in purely amount lang nakalagay tapos walang pangalan kung para saan ang mga deductions na yan?

if that's the case, kayo nalang pumunta ng labor office at dun nyo itatanong kung tama po yang dinideduct nila sa inyo...

huwag po kayo matakot, karapatan po ninyo malaman ang mga yan dahil pera nyo yan na galing sa pawis at hirap ng trabaho... hindi nalang basta may deductions na hindi nyo alam...

ano po ba ito? ito po ang korean ng "Return Cost Insurance" which is the 400,000won deduction by Samsung Insurance Company but can be taken back if uuwi na kayo ng Pinas after your sojourn period is completed...

so yung 75,000won na deduction mo, okay lang po yan basta hindi lumampas sa 400,000won in total... mas better pa nga yan kasi staggard basis ang deduction...yung iba kasi one time deduction or 2-times deduction...

naglakasloob po ako eto yng deductions nmin kongangpohom,kokminyunggem,koyongpohom,sodekse,chuminse d po nmin 2 alam coz as in ala pong nkalagay sa payslip nmin ang tanong how can i compute it ala nmang nkalagay kng magkano ang konggan,kukmin,etc.can u pls. help me know para pag d nla ipinakita atleast i"ll have an idea on it ayaw po kasi nilang pakita halos makipag awy na nga po ako pagtanong lng dun sa deductions looki'n forward for an answer, ty for the encouragement

ilan ba ang workers dyan sa company nyo? matagal na ba kayo dyan? i dont really agree sa ginawa ng employer nyo na ayaw ipakita ang details ng deducton ninyo...

please refer below on how to compute the following deductions you have mentioned...

try to compute using your basic salary... add the results of the 5 different deductions... if sobrang laki ang dini-deduct, im sure may kalokohan ginawa ang employer ninyo kaya ayaw ibigay ang details sa payslip...

if that's the case, you can visit the labor office and file a petition...

if you have some clarifications sa sample computation below you may contact me at 010-9294-4365... thanks...

1) Income Tax (소득세 or 갑근세)(sodeukse):
- in order to compute our monthly withholding tax easily, just use the AUTO CALCULATOR found at Korea National Tax Service website... pease click HERE... in that website, just input ur monthly salary in the empty box and click CALCULATOR...
- ex. if ur April salary including OT is 1,500,000won, using the AUTO CALCULATOR, ur iwithholding tax for April is 11,710won only...

2) Inhabitant Tax (주민세)(juminse):
- in order to compute, just multiply ur monthly withholding tax (소득세 or 갑근세) by 10%... the result would be ur Inhabitant Tax (주민세)...
- ex. if ur April withholding tax is 11,710won, then 11,710 x 10% equals 1,171won... so ur 주민세 for the month of April is 1,171won only...

3) NPS (국민연금) (kukmin yeongeum):
- ur monthly contribution must be 4.5% of ur monthly salary... plus another 4.5% to be paid by ur employer...
- ex. if ur April salary is 1,500,000won, then ur deduction for NPS is 67,500won only... then ur employer must also contribute to the NPS with the same amount... so, ur total NPS contribution for the month of April is 135,000won...

4) National Health Insurance (건강보험 or 의료보험)(geongangboheom):
- ur monthly contribution must be 2.665% of your monthly salary... plus another 2.665% from ur employer...
- ex. if ur April salary is 1,500,000won, then ur deduction for 건강보험 is 39,975won only... plus ur employer must also pay with the same amount to the National Health Insurance office...

5) Employment Insurance (고용보험) (goyongboheom):
- ur monthly contribution must be .45% of your monthly salary plus another .45% from your employer...
- ex. if ur April salary is 1,500,000won, then ur deduction for 고용보험 is 6,750won only... plus ur employer must also pay with the same amount to the KCOMWEL (Korea Workers’Compensation & Welfare Service)...

excellent..now that i knew,,had an idea of this things i'll have a nerve to start a conversation w/them.sabi ko nga sa sarili ko bakit nagpakatanga..but anyway since i encounter sulaypinoy marami yata nagbago..ang maganda po d2 may online forum so anyone can e,share what idea,prob,etc.w/c they can't manage by themselves like me.. sir Dave bago lng po me d2,we only 9 here.i worked here since nov.lst year.i thhink panget yta ang comp.na 2..ang increased nmin sa 2010 is lst mrch only.If ever i'll try to file a petition under labor makukuha po kaya ang kulang..i mean yung 2mnths na no increase sayang dn kc yn as u had mentioned it's from our pawis mdyo mlaki dn ksi 8:30am-8:30pm us..sry this is not about the topic but i inserted it due sa pagfile ng petition pra one tme lng then isip isip again..anyway more power ang dami natutulungan at matutulungan pa.goodnight po

ung kukmin ba 4.5% ng BASIC SALARY o kasama sa computation ung OT?kc kami mula nung dumating kmi 29610 lang kaltas nmin sa kukmin hanggang ngayon dina nadagdagan pero ung basic namin is 1.2million..

kabayang chadtine,

kasama po ang OT.. normally, your kukmin monthly deduction is based on your 1st or 2nd month salary for the whole first year...

but after one year, NPS office will adjust your monthly deduction according to your monthly average salary considering your OT in one year... NPS office is the one to decide that...

so you better visit the NPS office who has the jurisdiction of your company to clarify your deduction kasi masyadong maliit lang considering your 1.2mil monthly salary...

Sir: nagtrabaho po dito sa south korea starting oct. 7, 2008 sa mushroom company and then natapos ko po yon ng oct. 7, 2009, wala po akong natanggap na kokmin o kaya tijikom, meron po ba akong habol para makuha ko yon? more than 5 employees po kami don dati pero wala po akong natanggap.pwede po ba akong mag file ng complaint against sa dati kong pinasukan? may 2nd question po is dito sa bago kong trabaho as bell pepper picker, my boss deducted 75,000 kwn sa amin para daw sa kokmin yon pero ang pinagtataka ko eh walang nadating na receipt galing sa nps, paano po ang gagawin namin kong hnd naiihulog ng amo namin yong 75,000 kwn, bale ang sabi sa amin dati tig 75,000 daw kami kaya in one month 150,000 yon. pwede rin po ba akong mag file ng reklamo kasi na verify ko na sa nps na hindi talaga inihuhulog ng amo ko, pls help me to solve my contribution in nps and tijicom. thank you
