ano po yung GASOLINE TAX REFUND? feb 2006 po ako nag start mag work dito sa korea makukuha ko po ba yun? ano po sa korean yung GASOLINE TAX REFUND? para pag tinanong ko sa amo ko magkaintindihan kimi....tnx!

What is Gasoline Tax Refund?

Fellow migrant workers in South Korea,
I have just talked with Korea Tax National Service phone representative this morning about the 240,000 KRW received by some EPS workers. Please refer below for the details...
1) This tax refund sponsored by Korea National Tax Servise is called "Gasoline Tax Refund". It is a special benefit to all Korean Nationals and Foreign Residence (Workers or Self-employed) who have stayed Korea for 1-year or more with an income of 36,000,000 KRW or less in the year 2007. The reason of this refund is due to the abrupt increase of global oil price affecting global economic situation particularly in Korea.
2) Qualified Forein Residence: Those who have stayed in Korea for more than 1-year whether company employed or self-employed but should have a total income of 36,000,000 KRW or less in the year 2007.
3) How to apply for the benefits?
a) For company employed workers (like EPS, E7, etc), only their respective employers can make an application. Deadline of the application was actually on October 31.
In case the employers didn't apply your tax refund nor included you in his previous appication, you can file directly by visiting any National Tax Office. Bring your current employment contract upon filing.
Note: For further inquiry, you may call National Tax Service Foreigner Helpline at 02-397-1440. (The representative can speak English well)
b) For self-employed foreign residence, deadline of application is end of this month (November 31). Just visit any district tax offices for your application. You may visit their website at http://www.nts.go.kr/eng/help/help_41.asp?top_code=H001&sub_code=HS04&ssub_code=HSD1 or call 02-397-1440 for further details of the tax office location.
3) How much do you receive for the Gas Tax Refund?
a) If your total income in the year 2007 is less than 30,000,000 KRW, you will receive 240,000 KRW but in case ikaw ay nagparelease, there is a possibility na ang ibigay sayo na refund ay based lang sa number of months that you have been working in your current employer. In that case, you have to visit Tax Office and bring your Certificate of Employment from your previous company in the year 2007 ~ 2008.
b) If your total income in the year 2007 ranges from 35,000,000 ~ 36,000,000 KRW, you will only receive 60,000 KRW.
c) But, if your total income is more than 36,000,000 KRW, you receive nothing.
d) For further questions and clarifications you may directly asked to the National Tax Service thru their website at http://www.nts.go.kr/eng/help/help_01.asp?top_code=H001&sub_code=HS01&ssub_code=HSA1 or call at 02-397-1440

kabayan,
try to ask your employer if nakapagfile ba talaga sila... baka nagfile na sila at di pa natanggap ang tax refund money o kayay hindi ibinigay sa inyo ang pera... you can ask your korean co-workers too...
if hindi nakapagfile ang employer nyo for that refund, hanggat wala pang announcement of filing extension from the National Tax Service office, hindi na po makuha ang refund na yun...

as of now mahina po ang company namin, then 9 days na po kami walang pasok, ask ko lang po kung pwede po ba na ikaltas yung 9 days na bayad? ok lang po ba yun? salamat po..........

per Korean labor law, if magtemporarily shutdown ang company dahil mahina ang gawa, dapat magbayad parin sila ng at least 70% of your basic salary even hindi kayo nagwork...
or meron naman kayo leave 12-15 days a year. gamitin nyo yan para meron pa rin kayo complete sahod.

tanong lang po. august 2007 ako dumating korea naka 1yr ako sa company bago lumipat sa iba.entitled na ba ako sa gasoline tax refund?ano bang requirements to apply just in case personal application?if qualified but failed to avail the said refund,will i received it in the future or it will be forfieted? sabi kc new company ko di ako entitled.they called my former employer but i don't know for what reason but since it's already shutdown they contacted no one. is my former employer has something to do with this refund?

according to Korea National Tax Office representative na nakausap ko, if ang isang foreign worker is working and paying tax with minimum of one year is entitled to receive this "gasoline tax refund".
in your case na naparelease, need ng tax office ang proof na ikaw ay employed in 2007 before your new company... in that case kailangan ka pumunta sa tax office with your certificate of employment from your previous employer...
if hind makareceive forfeited ba ang subsidy na ito? i suggest you better contact the taxt office directly... you may visit their website at http://www.nts.go.kr/eng/help/help_41.asp?top_code=H001&sub_code=HS04&ssub_code=HSD1 or call 02-397-1440

actually last Oct. 31 pa ang deadline of filing for the said "gasoline tax refund" thru EPS worker respective employers but may mga special cases na kung saan hindi pa nakapagfile ang ibang employers ng so nagbigay ang National Tax Service (NTS) ng extension hanggang Nov. 30 na kung saan ang EPS worker na mismo ang pupunta sa any regional tax office...
now is December na, i'm sure marami pa rin hindi nakapagfile so, nag-request tayo sa Philippine Embassy thru POLO na i-request nila ang National Tax Service (NTS) for further filing extention...
sa ngayon wala pa tayo feedback from POLO... so i suggest you to please contact POLO or NTS office directly... please refer below...

makukuha mo yan if na-iregister kana ng employer mo sa Samsung Insurance during the start of work sa company mo... once na naregister ka na ang Samsung Insurance na kasi ang magbayad sa "toejigeum" mo according to your basic salary computation... ang risk dyan if hindi po kayo niregister ng employer mo sa Samsung... supposedly may penalty yan sa employer but if magdeclare po ng bankruptcy ang company mahirap talaga habulin ang mga benefits ninyo sakaling hindi magbayad ang employer...
