As the employment permit system has been implemented for three years, the number of foreign workers whose sojourn period expired is increasing. Against this backdrop, the service supporting employers who intend to reemploy foreign workers will be provided.

○ According to the Ministry of Labor, it will start providing reemployment support service on Oct. 22 to deal with matters necessary for reemployment procedure, entry and departure of foreign workers on behalf of their employers with the aim to mitigate inconvenience in the process of reemploying a foreign worker whose sojourn period expired.


- This service will be provided through Minister of Labor-designated agencies supporting foreign workers' employment activities. (e. g. the Human Resources Development of Korea, the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, the Construction Association of Korea, the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, and the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives)


- An employer who intends to apply for the service shall submit an application to an agency and pay a prescribed commission.


※ The amount of commission for agency business : 104,000 won (The amount of commission for agency business related to first entry of a foreign worker : 239,000 won)

○ If a foreign worker uses the reemployment support service through an agency, he may deal with matters related to departure and reentry without visiting related organizations like job centers, the Korea Immigration Service, etc.


- After departing from Korea, the foreign worker may receive a text message on his departure and entry schedule.

○ Therefore, it is expected that the service will enhance the efficiency of managing foreign workers' departure and reentry and have additional effects such as shortening reentry period and preventing illegal separation of foreign workers.

○ If an employer who intends to apply for reemployment support service, he may call the Human Resources Development of Korea (Tel. 1577-0071), the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (Tel. 2124-3331~7), the Construction Association of Korea (Tel. 3485-8453~Cool, the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (Tel. 1588-2085), and the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives (Tel. 2240-3302~5).



○ Meanwhile, Aug. 17, 2007 was the third anniversary of the employment permit system, which allows a company which cannot find Korean employees to legally hire an appropriate number of foreign workers.

thanks for the info. How about if the employer will not renew the employment, Can a foreign workers ask for help to be reemployed?

pag di ni renew is uuwi sa pinas then panibagong apply ulit.advice is pag medyo may kutob ka na di ka i re renew, 6 months before matapos ang contract is mag palipat ka.
